Title: Heirs to the Rebellion
Author: [profile] carrole
Rating: K+
Word count: ~23000 words.
Summary: Jagged Fel, officer in the Imperial forces, has custody of Jaina Solo - granddaughter of the Emperor, chosen heir to the throne, and Rebel leader.
A/N: This story revolves around changing one event in the Star Wars canon--Vader ended up with his children instead of Obi-Wan.  Everything follows from there.

Story links are off-site.  The story ended up being so huge that I didn't have much of a choice.  This takes you to my personal fanfic archive at googlepages.

I just finished reading this, and I loved it!

I actually wrote that prompt, and while you interpreted it differently than I did ("custody" meant he was there to imprison her as well as protect her) the way that you interpreted it worked absolutely fine.

I liked your portrayal of Jaina (although I kept expecting you to mention her piloting skills and was surprised when you never did!) and even more so your portrayal of Jag - I was especially touched by that scene with Bail Celchu.

I'm guessing that you're probably not planning to write a sequel, but if you did then I would be ecstatic :) It would be great to find out what side Jaina's family are on... and perhaps to see Vader turn away from the dark side!

Anyway, thanks so much for writing this, I will be adding you to my Star Wars recs page next time I update my website.

I haven't read it yet--am a bit busy, so don't have the time to start something long atm--but I'm going to and I'm excited just thinking about it. Thank you!

The due dates were mostly just to spread the stories throughout the month, so missing it? Not a problem. Thanks!

This was such a good AU! Jag is a sweetheart - I really liked how the Rebels reacted to him and how he was forced to sacrifice his best friend. Also, the Vader as Emperor was handled really well! Sooooo angry. Props for mentioning Face Loran in the production Cherith was involved in. Jaina was so cool in this - a blend of both her parents but very politically minded. Great fast-paced story.

I really enjoyed this story. The details of the AU were well thought out and well fleshed out. I did think that Jag's conversion to Rebel came a little too quickly (you don't decide to throw out a lifetime and a family heritage overnight) and would have liked to see more time of him getting to know Jaina and her trying to subtly convert him before he knows she's a rebel agent. However, it wasn't enough to hinder my enjoyment of the story.

If you do end up writing that sequel, please let me know. I'd love to read it.

An intriguing storyline and I liked your use of the dovin basals in the fighting. Particularly interesting were the details of the battle (with all those threats and mentions of Sun Crushers and stuff) and Jaina's new lightsaber. Naturally, it was good to see Obi-Wan in full command in your AU, with his "not believing in Jedi prophecy, not since Anakin ... " line.
