Before I wrote the story, I never considered that the people might blame Amidala either. But once I started thinking about what life might have been like under the occupation, it made sense. They're afraid, which leads to them being angry, and they're cut off from any communications. Of course they would need to blame someone, and Amidala, the young and naive, made the best target.

Date: 2008-08-13 04:09 am (UTC)Saché has learned about power--and the lack of it--the hard way, from seeing people who had, only days before, been well off, middle class, and civilized, lose what little power they had ever had, and what they were willing to do to get some of it back.
I'm glad you liked the datapad. I wanted to emphasize it as a physical object because that's where Saché can keep her story, and attempt to get it, at least a little bit, out of her. It's the one place where she doesn't have to worry that no one will believe her.
Thanks for reading!
